Yesterday we took a beautiful spring drive up from Brooklyn to check out Ramp Fest in Hudson, New York. Cool old venue, energetic crowd, charming string band, and incredible food by all the participants. It was ramp mania at its absolute finest!

Our favorite bites were:

3rd - Baby quiche with ramps, local eggs & Von Trapp Oma cheese, from Route 7 Grill in Great Barrington, MA.

2nd - Bluefish with creme fraiche, beets, ramp & duck skin, from Fresh Company in Garrison, NY.

1st - Ramp and goat cheese custard, Carolina rice, and ramp-walnut pesto, served in an egg shell, from Gallow Green in Manhattan. Pictured above.

There were 14 other dishes, all rampy and delicious. Many thanks to the organizers, already looking forward to next year’s!

After months of finding free time, plotting, scheming, designing, writing, eating, head scratching, cruising farmers markets, eating more, coding, dealing with the bureaucracy of the App Store, and ramping up, Ramps is now live and ready to download on your iDevice!
Ramps is a simple visual guide to food. With Ramps, you can decode complicated menus and recipes, discover new and interesting ingredients to cook with, or get your kids excited about good foods through the unique illustrations and simple interface. To get started, we have over 300 vegetables and fruits. In follow-up updates, we’ll be expanding that to include more foods and food groups, like pastas, cheeses, meats, etc…
Our vision is to have ALL THE FOODS in a single, easy to use interface, helping people find and discover more interesting food to eat, cook, and enjoy.
